Thomas Yoshida began taking photographs in the sixties and joined the Colour Photography Club of Hamilton (CPCH) where he met other photographers, competed in club competitions, and served in various positions. He became a member of the Photography Society of America (PSA), achieving a five-star rating for Nature photography and a three-star rating for Colour photography.

As a young man, learned the importance of precise measurements and quick calculations while working with his hands. So it became second nature to photograph the moments in nature, spontaneous scenes, and social events he witnessed during his lifetime, all with his 35mm camera set to capture the best images.

Tom spent much of his life traveling around the world, often taking photographs of the waterfront, scenic mountains, and the flora and wildlife of the countries he visited.

Tom edited and arranged many of these photographs into travelogues and photo essays and pioneered synchronized slide show presentations with taped narrations he recorded with his wife Frances. He also entered individual slides in various local, national, and international competitions, winning a number of awards in each category.

After his passing in 1986, this collection of over 8,000 historical, cultural, and educational slides was stored then later scanned and digitally edited into these engaging series of photographs.
